Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa brings awareness to "Turtle Season"

2007 Turtle Nesting Season in Palm Beach County Florida

JUPITER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Each year, from March 1st through October 30th, guests of the Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa are exclusive witnesses to one of Natures miracles: the annual migration of endangered sea turtles to the beaches of Palm Beach County, Florida. As David Godfrey, Executive Director of the Caribbean Conservation Corporation & The Sea Turtle Survival League, states: Florida's east coast beaches provide nesting habitat for the world's largest remaining population of threatened loggerhead turtles, as well as globally important populations of endangered green and leatherback turtles. For these species to survive, Florida must protect its sea turtle nesting beaches.

"As 'beachfront citizens' in beautiful Palm Beach county, Florida, we all have to be very aware of our responsibility to our environment," says Jeff Castner, General Manager of the Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa, which is located directly adjacent to the Carlin beachfront park in Jupiter, Florida.

To help educate guests at the Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa on protecting the nesting females and the hatchlings, each guestroom has two informational pieces. The drapes are decorated to get the guests attention with a sea turtle informational card tied to the drapery pulls, urging guests to draw their blackout drapes each evening to prevent the nesting females from becoming disoriented by the light as they make their annual visit to the beaches. A table tent, printed and distributed by the Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management, informs the readers of the dangers and pitfalls nesting females and the late summer hatchlings face on the beaches. Additional measures include limiting exterior lighting and covering existing lighting with a film that omits red light which researchers have determined has no effect on the turtle's navigation.

In addition to all the preventative measures to ensure the safety of the endangered creatures, the Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa also pledges to donate $5.00 to the Marine Life Center of Juno Beach for each reservation made in conjunction with their current Travelzoo Promotion(a).

The center, located just a few miles from the resort, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, protection and preservation of marine resources, especially Loggerhead, Leatherback and Green Sea Turtles. The resorts management hopes to raise awareness through their promotion by tying it to their international Travelzoo newsletter campaign, which, potentially seen by over a million travelers, will produce much needed funding for preservation and conservation.

The Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa is one of South Floridas best-kept travel secrets situated directly on the Atlantic Ocean in northern Palm Beach County, nestled along a secluded stretch of beach. The Resort has an outstanding selection of on-property amenities and services. In addition, the local area offers some of the countrys finest golf courses and deep-sea fishing opportunities.

Groom flies high on wedding day

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Sunday, July 02, 2006

JUPITER — Standing at the altar, the bride watched her prince charming fall out of the sky Saturday before he walked down the aisle.

Ismael Rodriguez, 34, arrived at his wedding two minutes after jumping from a plane to meet his bride, Mari Delgado, 33, and pledge their vows on the sands of the Jupiter Beach Resort.

Rodriguez took the big leap with six other professional sky divers as crowds craned their necks to watch his safe landing. He was the last to spiral down in a blue and neon-yellow-striped parachute just after 6 p.m.

As he touched ground, Rodriguez greeted his mother and slipped on a tuxedo jacket before he took a breathless walk down a red carpet sprinkled with red roses.

"I was just hoping I didn't land on anybody's head," Rodriguez said.

But the bride appeared to be swept away as R. Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly played in the background.

"I've always told my friends that I wanted a love time will lie and be still for, and he finally came," Delgado said.

"This is my prince charming."

The Spanish-born Loxahatchee couple decided to start their marriage with an unconventional ceremony to mark their union. They met last year via telephone when Rodriguez lived in Baltimore. He flew Delgado in for a visit and soon after proposed.

Rodriguez began sky diving last year and is also a European kickboxer. His mother flew in from Spain's Basque countryside to give him away.

"He's always been very adventurous," said Maria Pilar Rodriguez, his mother. "I'm nervous, but he told us he wanted to do something special for today."
